[edit] Granite Worktops
Granite worktops are an extremely good choice of worktop surface for a kitchen. They are virtually stain resistant and given the high level of durabilty granite has, worktops made from this commonly stand the test of time.
[edit] About Granite
Granite is either in the form of an igneous rock or metamorphic rock. Igneous rocks are rocks that have melted due to being deep inside the earth, turned into magma and then cooled, whereas metamorphic rocks form when the plates inside the earths crust push down on igneous rock, sedimentary rock and other already formed metamorphic rock. The differing rocks fuse together to form new unique metamorphic rocks that can even contain minerals such as; quartz, amethyst, emerald and gold.
[edit] Other Uses For Granite in the Kitchen
Granite is an excellent choice for floor and wall tiles for most of the reasons that apply to worktops.
[edit] Granite Colours
There are many colours of granite for kitchen worktops; and with every colour comes a multitude of patterns and grades. No two pieces of stone are ever completely the same, which only adds to the unique qualities this stone has to offer.
